Pie Crusts

Whole Wheat Pie Crust

2 ½ cups of whole wheat pastry flour

½ tsp sea salt

½ tsp aluminum-free baking powder

1 cup oats

¼ cup wheat germ

1 cup walnuts

1 cup water

3 medjool dates

1 tablespoon grape seed oil (optional)

 

Preparation:

1.  Mix whole wheat pastry flour, baking powder, and sea salt in bowl. (set aside)

2.  Blend oats and wheat germ and add to bowl. (mix together)

3.  Blend walnuts, water and dates until smooth.  Add to the bowl and mix with a fork

4.  Form into a ball.  Roll out into pie crust size between wax paper

5.  Press into a lightly sprayed pie plate

6.  Pie crust now is ready for filling and baking

 

For a quicker recipe (but maybe not as tasty), try below:

Graham Cracker Crust

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbles

2-3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons water

1 dash sea salt

 

Preparation:

Mix together all the ingredients in a medium bowl.  Oil pan/plate lightly with vegan butter.  Use your fingers or the back of a spoon to press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a pie plate or cheesecake pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 7-10 minutes or until golden brown.  Let cool completely before using.
